Christmas 2014

This year my friend and I celebrated Christmas by cooking together. She got me food and drew a picture of my dog as my gift. My gift for her hasn't even been purchased yet because I have to make it. She got a new camera from her parents, and we took pictures of Keesha and my new hamsters.

The following pictures are taken by her:

These are the foods we made
We used almond butter instead because we didn't have peanut butter.

Pictures below are by me):

Spinach, egg and herbs. Cooked by Angela while I ate my Christmas present

Roast Chickpeas

These roasted chickpeas are one of my favourite snacks. My dog likes them too.

Ingredients:
Cooked chickpeas
Water

oil, herbs and spices ( if you want)

-Drain chickpeas and rinse in some water
-Use a towel or paper towel to pat dry the chickpeas
-toss chickpeas in oil, herbs and spices( if you want)

-Put chickpeas on baking tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure no chickpeas are on top of each other. You want a single layer of chickpeas.
-Bake at 450° f until the chickpeas are dry and crunchy on the inside( approx 30-40 min)

My oven's temperature is always a little bit lower than what I set. Baking takes me about 2 hours, but it takes my friend 30 minutes( I think there is something seriously wrong with my oven). Her oven is better than mine.

Sunday Breakfast:
Toast with chia jam, tahini and pears.

Experiment 1: Roast Chickpeas
I soaked chickpeas overnight, cooked them and then roasted them. I ate most of them today because I wanted to.

Experiment 2: Apple Cider Vinegar
I cut up pieces of apple and added a water+raw sugar solution.
This experiment will take a few weeks.

Summer Solstice

There are many things I love about the warmer months...

Picking wild foods
Red Clover

White Clover

Is this red and white clover combined?
 Finding souvenirs

2 dead mason bees( probably died because of the weather)
I hope I don't find anymore dead bees.

Fish Food

It's been a long time since I've posted!

Doesn't look very appetizing does it? It's for my fish, not me. =)

Ingredients

-whatever veggies you want to put in it( I used organic carrots, asparagus, garlic, and potatoes)
-basil( optional)
-live mussels
-agar agar( more than you think you need)
The amount of ingredients you use depends on the type of fish you are feeding and how much you plan to make.

-put all the veggies( and basil) in a pot and cover with water
-bring water to a boil
-add mussels in
-when the mussels are cooked( their shells open), scoop out all the veggies and mussels( remove the shell)
-place everything into a blender, and blend until smooth
-dissolve agar in the water( stop the boiling) and then boil the water for a few minutes
-add the blended ingredients into the agar and water
-pour mixture into a container( I used mussel shells)
-let cool and solidify
-serve when solidified and freeze the remaining
-thaw in fridge when planning to feed another time

*mussel shells may raise the Ph of water so do not use if your fish are sensitive to changes in water parameters

It's Been A While!

I haven't been able to post anything because my computer got a virus.

I made this about 2 weeks ago:

It's goat curry, couscous, cauliflower, and asparagus.

Blueberry Kombucha Slushies

I like eating cold food even when it's cold outside, but then I get cold. I still eat cold food anyways.

This baby gets me shivering on hot summer days.
